Dating Matt has taught me two things: hockey and cars. I’ve always liked hockey; who wouldn’t? I appreciate friendly, competitive aggression. Football and hockey are my two favorites sports, enough said. As I am typing, I am currently also watching game six of the Stanley Cup, which will also probably the last game because Detroit is a game short of the cup and the Red Wings are currently winning. Dating a mechanic whose dad and the majority of his friends are also mechanics has not only peaked my interest in cars, but it has also reestablished my desire to learn how to fix them as well. I’ve always wanted to learn, but it never seemed “me” so I never bothered. When my mom was younger she changed her own alternator, she is a pretty impressive woman. I can change my oil and change a tire (although, I can’t jack up a car). The other day I added engine coolant and bought transmission fluid, but that is pretty much it. I am learning and despite the fact that other’s have a ridiculous pre-conceived notion that I am a girly-girl I am going to continue to learn. Until I met Matt I was never really into cars other than fixing them up, I couldn’t identify a single automobile without reading the make and model from whereever it happened to have been printed on the car. I am learning that as well simply by listening. I always have a plan about one aspect of my future life or another, we’ll see whether or not any of them pan out. With that being said, I will share with you my automobile plan. I decided earlier today that it is neccessary that I have a rather large driveway when I move out of my parent’s house. I also decided that I need a particularly fuel efficient car for communting to work and school and whereever else. I read an article in National Geographic about inventions that were modeled after things found in nature. For example, this particular car’s design was modeled after a fish with particularly impressive aero-dynamics. The car gets 70 mpg highway! Expensive right? Probably, it didn’t say and I haven’t found it online yet. So the plan is to get me one of those, or maybe by the time I get that rich the world will think of something even better. I figure that (since in my “plan” I’ll be ridiculously rich) I’ll be able to buy myself a few fun cars as well. I’d like to get a Jeep Wrangler for the summertime, of course. They’re probably one of my favorites. I’d also like an el camino (hmm, spelling; I am feeling a tad too lazy to look it up right now), because they are way too cool.
